The University of Chicago

I am an Assistant Instructional Professor in the Data Science Institute at the University of Chicago. My teaching and scholarly work focus on data science education, ethical data practice, and the design of accessible, interactive learning experiences for students developing technical, statistical, and critical reasoning skills.

I teach across the undergraduate data science curriculum, including introductory data science, computer science for data science, machine learning, and data science ethics. I am especially interested in helping students connect technical methods to real-world decision-making, communicate clearly about data, and develop confidence as problem solvers.

Before coming to the University of Chicago I attended Washington University in St. Louis where I received a double major in mathematics and psychology, graduating summa cum laude and as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa honor society. I went on to earn a masters degree in Data Analytics and Statistics before earning my doctorate in Computational and Data Sciences from Washington University in St. Louis as the pioneering graduate of the program, where I studied applications of machine learning and AI for scarce resource allocation in the context of homelessness prevention services. I was advised by Dr. Sanmay Das  at Virginia Tech and Dr. Patrick Fowler in the Division of Computational and Data Sciences at Washington University in St. Louis.
